- Pan An: Pan An (247-300) was supposed to be the most beautiful chinese man in the whole of chinese history. He was a prominent chinese poet who lived during the western Jin dynasty. He is best known for his good looks but apparently he was also very intelligent and skilled in literature too. One description in the Book of Jin (a famous chinese historical textbook) of how popular he was because of his looks was that when he was young, he would often take walks to the outskirts of Luoyang (the capital city)….Women who met him would surround him and throw fruits into his chariot, so when he returned the entire chariot would be full of them. However he was executed when he was falsely accused of being involved in a plot for a rebellion against the throne. His most famous works was the collection of 3 poems who he wrote to his beloved wife who was the only woman he ever married when she died. That was quite a feat considering that he lived in a time when almost every man who could afford it would have several concubines along with his wife.
