Synopsis: Song Yu Die (Zheng Shuang) is a renowned chef in Hangzhou city with a mysterious identity. She grew up learning how to cook from her adopted mother who is also a brilliant chef and the owner of the famous restaurant Tianxiang restaurant. Her sweetheart Li Ma (Ray Ma) is the adopted son of her mother and she knows that they will marry when they grow up. However things change when she encounters Prince Zhao Yuan Qing and Li Ma heads off to the battlefield to build a career for himself. Meanwhile beneath the prosperity, a threat lurks in the background and together with Li Ma, Zhao Yuan Qing she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save it…..

  1. Soil your mouth: the literal chinese term for swear words is soiled/dirty words so this is just a play on the term for swear words
  2. You’ll be like a phoenix without any feathers! You’re even worse than a chicken!: A phoenix is usually thought of as the embodiment of the Empress or a noble woman. This saying means that when those from a high social class falls from grace they will be even worse off than a normal civilian.
  3. Snatching a husband: There was a chinese custom where the family of young noble/rich women would look for a husband amongst the poor young men or young men who do not have family who work in the imperial civil service who have passed the imperial civil exam to have another assistant at court. This is often the case where the family of the woman do not have many male heirs or any capable male members in the family.
  4. Qingwang: This is the title given to the son or brother or uncle of the Emperor (a very closely related male of the Emperor who is often in his favor)
  5. Improving a bad condition with a happy occasion: also known as 冲喜 (literal translation: wash of good fortune) using a good occasion to bring good fortune which would hopefully wash away the bad luck
  6. Support carries the boat, going against it will capsize the boat: the boat in this instance would be the monarchy.
