Synopsis: 1000 years ago, the God of war and the Star of Mosha fought against each other during a bitter battle that almost upturned the way of the world. However at the end of it, both had disappeared mysteriously. 1000 years later, their reincarnations are born into the mortal realm. Chu Xuanji was born into the world lacking the ability to understand or receiving information from the 6 senses leaving her clueless to the world and inept. She befriends Yu Sifeng, the most skilled disciple from the Lize palace who falls in love with her despite the consequences that would occur if he falls in love with a woman. Meanwhile, the demonic realm are preparing themselves to revive the star of Mosha in order to overthrow the Heavenly realm once more and soon the events of the past catches up to them….

Notes:

  1. Taohui: There is no mythical beast called Taohui but it means to conceal one’s ambitions and talents to prepare for an attack when your foe is caught off guard
  2. The monks may be capable, but the devils even more so: The literal translation is when your cultivation increases by a chinese foot, the cultivation of the devils will increase by a chinese yard. So originally it’s meant to warn people to not slack off and be careful as your enemies and surroundings but now it’s being used to to represent that evil can rein over good as in this case.

NB: Ep 37 is a teary episode so get your tissues ready. This is the section where we’re literally trying to find the few sparse sweet scenes amongst all the glass shards and also stop yourself from strangling Hao Chen.

  2. I felt really bad for sifeng, he did everything to help all the clans and xuanji but she had so little trust in him. it was hard to watch him suffer so much. All the clans never really understood justice or mercy. Sifeng deserves better. Through out all the episodes, I really disliked that Dijun. How can some from heaven be like that?..

Everyone keeps mentioning how XJ triggered SF’s love curse but when you really think about it, he fell in love with a woman who couldn’t feel/understand love and then proceeded to misunderstand her every action knowing that to her everybody was the same. Then he hides part of his identity. XJ loves him and there is no doubt about that, but, she doesn’t love all of him because she doesn’t know all of him.

    1. Yes, well said. If you were to put their relationship in realistic terms, it’s actually toxic. Sifeng basically made Xuanji like him and he keeps so many things from her. He jumps to conclusions, triggering the curse himself. Xuanji runs on impulse and doesn’t appreciate their relationship until he’s literally has died or about to.

      1. Yes, this is it. In the novel, Si Feng is to eager to believe she loves him and doesn’t realize her attachment is too immature. Meanwhile Xuan Ji childishly just doesn’t want to be alone and likes the attention, and takes how well Si Feng treats her completely for granted.

        In the novel she just sort of gradually grows up (it’s a slow burn style fic, but I don’t really recommend it, it’s poorly structured with about 25% at the end being an info/backstory/lore dump, also Si Feng’s backstory is garbage and the TV writer was right to change it), whereas in the TV series I think there’s more of a sense of needing to sacrifice, what comes to you easily is not valued. In both there’s also an idea that love is both bitter and sweet, being happy and with everyone you care for all the time is a child’s view of the world. Although the TV series has a lot more happy endings than the enovel.

  5. okay I have to leave another comment after ep 37, sifeng went against his clansmen and father for you “righteous sects” yet you ingrates still want to prosecute him for his race, if the heaven of your world has justice at all then you all deserve a divine punishment.

    p.s. Hao chen is the biggest wh*re that the fantasy romance genre has ever scene and Xuanji needs to get out of her victim mentality

    1. They leaned too much on making Hao Chen terrible and never showed us why some of the celestials are so dedicated to him. I mean the implication is that he had an inner demon (“heart devil”) sparked by the idea that if he could only turn LJ into a weapon for heaven then heaven would be safe, but then taking mortal form ended up perverting things even more because he has lust for XJ but is in denial about it. It wasn’t handled in a subtle way.

  21. I’ve just watch from 36 till 59 with raw subs. Bcs of i understand a little bit of mandarin, i cried while watching all the episode. Glad its happy ending. Thanks for subbing, i can’t get enuff with raw sub and indo sub, so i need eng sub.

  28. Idk if my heart is ready for more heartbreaks. It’s so sad to the point i start dreamining about it. Sifeng ah Sifeng. I’ll wait for more episodes to be sub then i will watch nd bear all the pain at once. I can’t watch in agony. But thank you for the fast subbing tho 🙂
