- Xingxing wine: Or the wine before the execution. This stems from the chinese folk belief that if you die hungry, you will become a hungry ghost and hence suffer terribly when you become a ghost for that entire year unless someone offers you a food sacrifice. Hence all criminals on the death row in Ancient China are fed a good fulfilling meal and wine before their execution.
- Heqin marriage: This refers to the ancient chinese practise of Chinese Emperors marrying princesses (usually princesses of a minor branch of the ruling/Imperial clan) to rulers of neighboring states to strengthen political alliances or as a form of appeasement so that the other party was willing to go into a peace deal when they were too powerful on the battlefield. However because this marriage was not often successful hence there were many critics of it.
