Synopsis: 1000 years ago, the God of war and the Star of Mosha fought against each other during a bitter battle that almost upturned the way of the world. However at the end of it, both had disappeared mysteriously. 1000 years later, their reincarnations are born into the mortal realm. Chu Xuanji was born into the world lacking the ability to understand or receiving information from the 6 senses leaving her clueless to the world and inept. She befriends Yu Sifeng, the most skilled disciple from the Lize palace who falls in love with her despite the consequences that would occur if he falls in love with a woman. Meanwhile, the demonic realm are preparing themselves to revive the star of Mosha in order to overthrow the Heavenly realm once more and soon the events of the past catches up to them….

  1. Demonic core: In Xianxia novels/dramas, demons require a demonic core in order to cultivate, gain powers and vital essence/life energy which becomes more powerful either with a cultivation technique or with time. Most demons like magical beasts already have this core within them unlike human cultivators who have to first condense Qi, establish a foundation and then form a core. Cultivators highly prize this core and they hunt and kill demons and beasts for it in order to use their core in elixirs and weapons to boost their cultivation and powers.

I recently got introduced to the world of Asian dramas, particularly C-dramas since the whole pandemic, and I have become obsessed. I cannot expressed how fortunate I feel to be able to enjoy these dramas due to the efforts of subbers like you who make it accessible to the rest of us. It is especially helpful too when little notes are added to give us non-Chinese speakers more context.

    Secondly, I’ve watched Ashes of Love and towards the end, the story became too weak and draggish, therefore I thought I won’t get addicted to another c drama but hell no! LAR, I found one fine day randomly & for fun played it and before I knew, I became addicted and waited patiently for every subbed episode … no other drama has kept me on hook the way this is! The plot twists, the characters, the world within is so unique and amazing.
    Also, Dijun at first sight was my first love I mean he’s got that male lead charm & I wondered why the heck is he a supporting guy. But like Runyu, I feel he too needs to have a justifying backstory to explain what caused the chaos & why is he so bitter about it. Idk why everyone’s too harsh on him, coz when I spot a lil triangle mood, I whistle inwardly ..(hope to see xuanji and him in another drama, but maybe as sect disciples love story)
    Someone shut that annoying snake girl!
    Sifeng is soooo mucch better than xu feng! His love is so precious and I totally adore his and xuanji’s chemistry ! They’ve got what it needs to keep us hooked. I hope they get their happy ending … also that tingshe guy is bleh
